A REPORT ON `KROMAFEST` CULTURAL FESTIVAL FOR BASIC SCHOOLS IN THE KROWOR MUNICIPALITY

The first ever cultural festival dubbed: `Kromafest` among Basic Schools within the Krowor Municipality occurred on Thursday 24th February, 2022 at the Zimmerman Presbyterian Church Auditorium, Nungua. Dignitaries at the august cultural festival were the Member of Parliament for Krowor, Hon. Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Krowor, Hon. Joshua Nii Bortey, Municipal Director of Education, Madam Justina Djaba, Municipal Director of National Centre for Civic Education (NCCE), Mrs. Wilhelmina Adu-Asamoah, Municipal Information Officer Mr. Emmanuel Sampson, Rev. Samuel N.A. Addotey, Head teachers and teachers of participating schools, Staff of the Assembly, pupils and invited guests.

The Krowor office of the Centre for National Culture and the Municipal Education Directorate organized this cultural festival which sought to enable pupils in schools in the Municipality appreciate their national identity through a brief history of the sixteen (16) Regions in Ghana and their respective cultural

The performing schools dazzled the audience with their respective stagecraft in order to capture the attention of the seasoned judges to win this inaugural competition. They were cheered by fans who doubled as pupils from participating schools.

In her address, the Member of Parliament for Krowor, Hon. Agnes Naa Momo Lartey advised the school to take their studies serious and encouraged them to learn their culture. She confessed that she was proud of their performances and that she had brought some items to be presented to deserving schools.

In his remarks, the Municipal Chief Executive for Krowor, said he appreciated the efforts of both parents and teachers for bringing out the best of cultures from the children. He said the Assembly was committed to helping students in the municipality reach their respective goals. He thanked them for the wonderful performances.

The SDA`B` Basic School representing the Greater Accra Region won the contest.
