
The Department of Social Welfare and Community Development of Krowor Municipal Assembly assists the Assembly to formulate and implement social welfare and community development policies within the framework of national policy.
Our mandate is to integrate the vulnerable, the disadvantaged and the marginalized into mainstream development.
The Department by its mandate undertakes the following activities;
CHILD RIGHTS PROMOTION AND PROTECTION
- Ident6ification of child maintenance, custody and family welfare cases and handling them.
- conducting follow-up on cases and ensuring compliance on discussions arrived at.
- Identification,registration and supervision of Day Care Centers(Early Child Care Development Centers)
- Sensitization of community members on Child Right Protection & Promotion and social issues (child labor, child sexual abuse,child marriages child trafficking,streetism, teenage pregnancy etc)
- Supervision and monitoring of Residential Homes to operate under standard conditions
COMMUNITY CARE
- Facilitate community-based rehabilitation of Persons Living With Disabilities through the implementation of the 3% common fund allocated for PWD’s
- Identification and registration of Persons Living With Disabilities (PWD’s)
- Monitor effective and efficient use of 3% DACA funds for PWD’s
- Organize disability day celebration
- Undertake sensitization and social education problems in communities
- Supervise and monitor the implementation of Social intervention programs like LEAP
- Skill training and income generation activities for vulnerable persons and youth
- Registration of vulnerable on NHIS
COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT
- Organize literacy and adult education programs.
- Tech deprived women in home management and child care.
- Promote and provide alternative livelihood empowerment skills for the deprived communities.
- Promote entrepreneurial skills businesses support services and linkage to financial institutions to beneficiaries of skills training programs.
- Mobilize and train voluntary leaders and community-based organizations as change agents in the communities.
- Support extension services to governmental and non-governmental organizations.
- Identify, maintain and update data on various groups in the community.
- Undertake community entry processes for programs initiation, monitoring and evaluation.
