MCE COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT

On Tuesday 21st December, 2021, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Krowor, Hon. Joshua Nii Bortey together with Hon Eric Addo, the Assembly Member of Addogonno Electoral Area met members of the Washing Bay community. The Engagement took place at the SDA Primary and Junior High School. The opening prayer was said by Ms Eunice Ansah at 3:00pm.

The Hon. Eric Addo said he was delighted that the community and to a large extent the Electoral Area has been blessed with the presence of the Municipal Chief Executive and Addogonno Mantse. He urged community members to use this opportunity to ask relevant questions and contribute meaningful to the development of Krowor.

In his opening remarks, the Hon. Joshua Bortey stressed the importance of this community engagement. He said that this marks one of the steps in bringing development closer to the people. He said that it is important that the Assembly take firsthand information from the people and use that information to bring development to Krowor.

The engagement begun with an issue from a community member on the rate at which there is noise pollution in the area. He said that the area is filled with pubs and churches who generate a lot of noise and add to the fact that most people work from homes nowadays in the era of Covid 19, it becomes a nuisance to the workers. He pleaded that the MCE and the Assembly does something about it.

The MCE said that Assembly was in the process of purchasing a sound level meter for the Municipal Environmental Health Unit so that they can measure the levels of sound and prosecute offenders.

A member of the community also raised a concern that the community does not have any public toilet. He said that this makes it difficult for people who live in kiosk to have a proper place of convenience. He said this creates a sanitation and health problem for the people in the community.

The Hon. Chief Executive said that he had already informed the Assembly member about the situation. He said that he had tasked the Assembly Member to help the assembly locate a suitable place for the Assembly to set up an ideal place for the public toilet.

In his closing remarks, the Municipal Chief Executive thanked the community members for availing themselves to attend the engagement. He thanked them for such a fruitful engagement. He added that Covid was still around the community members should be vigilant and keep to the protocols.

The engagement came to an end at 4:15pm with a closing prayer by Mr. John Atiati, a resident member.
