The Environmental Health and Sanitation Unit (EHSU) of the Krowor Municipal Assembly reports the discovery of a deceased male within the Nii Odai Ablade Electoral Area near the old cemetery. The incident was first reported at about 2:40 p.m. by the Area Assemblyman, Hon. William Agoe.
Upon receiving the information, the Environmental Health Officer proceeded to the scene at 3:55 p.m., where officers from the Ghana Police Service had already secured the area. Initial observations revealed signs of vomiting and two bottles containing unidentified chemicals, one open and one closed suggesting possible ingestion or exposure. The deceased, estimated to be 21 years old, was found with a Ghana Card, which the Police took for further investigation.
A hearse was later dispatched to convey the body to the Police Morgue for preservation and autopsy. To prevent any public health risk, the Environmental Health Unit promptly disinfected and decontaminated the container and its surroundings to eliminate any potential biological or chemical hazard.
The area has since been declared safe. The Ghana Police Service has commenced investigations to determine the cause of death and identify the deceased. The Assembly will continue to collaborate with the Police to obtain the autopsy and toxicology reports for further action.
The Krowor Municipal Assembly remains committed to ensuring a clean, safe, and healthy environment for all residents.
