KROWOR MHD BRIEFS HON. ASSEMBLY MEMBERS ON UPCOMING HPV VACCINATION ROLLOUT
The Krowor Municipal Health Directorate held a briefing session with Hon. Assembly Members ahead of the rollout of the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination programme across the Municipality.
The session, led by the Municipal Health Director, highlighted key information about the HPV vaccination campaign scheduled from 7th – 11th October, 2025, and the important role Assembly Members play in mobilizing community support for the exercise.
During the engagement, participants were educated that HPV infection is the most common cause of cervical cancer, which affects the reproductive organs of women and remains one of the leading causes of cancer deaths among them. The HPV vaccine, given as a single injection for girls aged 9–14 years, provides maximum protection against HPV infections and helps prevent cervical cancer later in life.
Assembly Members were further assured that the HPV vaccine is safe, effective, and free of charge, and that trained health professionals will visit schools and communities to administer the vaccine. Vaccinated girls will receive an immunization card as proof of vaccination.
The Krowor Municipal Assembly joins the Health Directorate in urging all parents and guardians to ensure their daughters aged 9–14 years are vaccinated during the period to protect their future.
Together, we can eliminate cervical cancer and promote good health and wellbeing for all.
