Hon Joshua Nii Bortey, MCE for Krowor on May 26, 024 welcomed a high powered government delegation headed by Hon. Daniel Nii Kwatei Titus Glover, Greater Accra Regional Minister and Hon Asamoah Boateng Minister for Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs to the 2024 climax of the Nungua Kplejoo Homowo Festival as they followed the Sacred Corn on foot from Oyibi through the Katamanso Pinkwai forest, Santeo, and Borteyman crossing the Accra-Tema Motorway to the ceremonial Mandjaano in the heart of Nungua.
Kplejoo is traditionally celebrated as a forerunner to the annual Homowo Festival by the Ga lineage during which the traditional priest and priestesses perform various rights in honour of their gods and pray for bountiful food and fish harvest.
The celebration brings the people of Nungua together to observe some time-honoured obligations. It is also a moment for family reunions and reconciliations as well as fun and projections for the future.
