REPORT ON THE DISBURSEMENT OF 3% COMMON FUND TO PERSONS WITH DISABILITY ON FRIDAY, JULY 10, 2020 AT THE FORECOURT OF KROWOR MUNICIPAL ASSEMBLY
The Krowor Municipal Assembly through the Social Welfare Department has disbursed its three per cent common fund to persons with disability in the Municipality at the Assembly’s forecourt.
The Municipal Chief Executive Hon. Joshua Nii Bortey said the donation was to enhance the livelihood of PWDs in the area of Education, Health and Socio Economic activities.
The Hon MCE stated that the government with its care for persons with disability and the need to enhance their social image through dignified labour has increased the share of the district assembly common fund from two per cent to three per cent in order to capture more persons with disability in various metropolitans, municipal and district assemblies (MMDAS) on quarterly bases, he mentioned.
He said the distribution was to enhance their social image and improve their standard of living. The Hon. MCE elaborated on the various beneficiary groupings; visually, hearing and speech impaired, it also includes physically and mentally challenged as well as cerebral palsy. A burnt survivor and persons with multiple disabilities were not left out.
Relief items were also given to them in the era of COVID-19.
Seventy-one persons with disabilities benefited from the disability fund. Some were given cash for trading, others school fees and medical bills were paid for. Others were also given
