The Krowor’s version of the disbursement of cash and items to Persons Living with Disability was commemorated at the forecourt of the Nungua Obenetsoshishi on October 9, 2024. The occasion saw in attendance dignitaries comprising representatives from Nungua Traditional Council, the Clergy, Political Parties Representatives, NGOs and general public.
Speaking at the function the MCE for Krowor Hon. Joshua Nii Bortey revealed that the Disability Act 715, 2006 was passed to protect the rights of persons with disability and to economically empower Persons with Disability by improving their sources of income and providing them with medical bills, school fees and apprenticeship thus, the Krowor Municipal quest to satisfy the Legislature came to fruition during the event. He however cautioned the beneficiaries of the fund to use it for the purpose for which it was disbursed.
Mrs. Priscilla Febiri, the Head of Department of the Social Welfare and Community Development at the Krowor Municipal Assembly also reiterated some of their challenges with regards to the availability of funds and how the urgent needs of the beneficiaries can be met efficiently. She further went on to encourage those who had not registered with the assembly yet to do so that they can also enjoy this benefits from the district assembly common fund to people living with disabilities
The MCE further commended the Department of Social Welfare for the effort made to make the event a success.
