The Krowor Municipal Assembly has held another important engagement with market women, traders and shop owners as preparations intensify towards the commencement of works on the 24-Hour Economy Model Market at the Nungua Sookpoti Market, near the Nungua Shell Fueling Station.
The engagement provided an opportunity to reaffirm the project’s objectives, discuss the proposed designation of trading zones, and ensure that traders and other stakeholders remain informed and actively involved as Krowor moves towards this major milestone.
The new market will provide a modern, safe and well-organised trading environment, with facilities including fire and police stations, parcel office, supermarkets, Women’s Bank, warehouses, stalls, open trading spaces, information centre, meat shops, restaurants, hostels, creche, clinic and cold stores, among others. The project is expected to create jobs, expand economic opportunities, improve trading conditions and support the realisation of the Government’s 24-Hour Economy agenda.
The Assembly commends H.E. President John Dramani Mahama for this visionary initiative and appreciates the Hon. Member of Parliament for Krowor for her commitment and support towards its realisation.
We also extend our profound appreciation to the Nungua Mantse and the Nuumo Gborbu Wulomo for their unwavering support, as well as the market queens, traders, shop owners, traditional leaders, consultants, contractors, Assembly Members and all stakeholders who made time to participate in the deliberations.
Engagement with various stakeholders, individuals and groups will continue before and throughout the entire execution of the project to ensure effective information flow, transparency, proper coordination and the smooth implementation of the project.
