COMMENCEMENT OF DRIP MACHINE OPERATIONS IN KROWOR MUNICIPALITY

On Friday, 25th October, 2024, Hon. Joshua Nii Bortey, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Krowor, together with members of the DRIP Committee for Krowor, witnessed the official commencement of work by one of the machines assigned under the District Road Improvement Programme (DRIP). The machine began desilting activities on the SDA drains located within the Addogonno Electoral Area in the Krowor Municipality.

The DRIP initiative, which involves the deployment of heavy-duty machines including Graders, Excavators, Water Tankers, and Bulldozers, is a government-led intervention aimed at enhancing road connectivity, improving accessibility, and contributing to sustainable economic development across various districts.

Speaking during the commencement of the exercise, Hon. Joshua Nii Bortey highlighted the significance of the DRIP machines, especially in maintaining effective drainage systems within the municipality. He underscored that regular desilting and maintenance of drains will help prevent the clogging of major drainage channels, thereby reducing the risk of flooding, prolonging the lifespan of drainage infrastructure, preventing pest infestations, and supporting overall public health and environmental sustainability within the Krowor Municipality.

Hon. Joshua Nii Bortey further emphasized that the government’s decision to introduce the DRIP policy is timely and strategic. He expressed optimism that road networks across the country, and particularly within Krowor, would witness remarkable improvement in the coming months as a result of this intervention.

The commencement of this operation is part of a broader, systematic effort to address perennial drainage and road-related challenges faced by residents in Krowor and its environs. It reflects the commitment of both the Municipal Assembly and the central government to ensuring that infrastructural development continues to meet the growing needs of communities and supports broader socio-economic advancement.
