WORLD MALARIA DAY COMMEMORATED IN KROWOR MUNICIPAL

Hon. Joshua Nii Bortey MCE for Krowor on Thursday 25th April 2024 welcomed stakeholders to the Krowor Municipality to commemorate the 88th World Malaria Day 2024 under the theme Health Equity, Cornerstone for Malaria Elimination. The Key priorities for the celebration were, strengthening surveillance, Scaling Up vector control, Promoting Community Engagements and Research and innovations which will ensure we stay ahead of the evolving parasites and mosquito resistance.

The targeted year to eliminate malaria entirely from Krowor is 2028.

 In a keynote address by the MCE, Hon Joshua Bortey revealed that Krowor Municipality was chosen for the National Celebrations because it is the 1st out of the many districts that has low malaria transmissions in Ghana. He disclosed that Krowor achieved this feat because of how it has managed sanitation issues within the Municipality and therefore commended all the relevant stakeholders involved in making this dream a reality.

He said the Municipal Assembly would continue to work hard to improve sanitation and health issues within the Municipality but it behooves on the citizens to also play their part so malaria can be eradicated completely from the municipality.
