
The 39th edition of the National Farmers’ Day Celebrations for the Krowor Municipality was held on Friday 1st December, 2023 at the Forecourt of Krowor Municipal Assembly. The theme for this year’s celebrations is: ‘DELIVERING SMART SOLUTIONS FOR SUSTAINABLE FOOD SECURITY AND RESILIENCE’. This celebrations marks 39 years of celebrating the gallant farmers and fishers who have continuously contributed immensely towards the survival and growth of the Ghanaians and the development of the country.
The program was held to honour and reward the hardworking farmers and fisher-folks who had distinguished themselves and untiringly worked day and to ensure that citizens of Ghana had food to feed their respective families.
The august program was graced by a representative of the Paramount Chief of the Nungua Traditional Area, King Prof. Odaifio Welentsi III, the High Priest of Nungua, Nuumo Gborbu Wulomo, Municipal Chief Executive of Krowor, Hon. Joshua Nii Bortey, a representative of the Member of Parliament for Krowor, Hon. Agnes Naa Momo Lartey,Nungua Osino Mantse, Nii Afotey Botwe II Municipal Coordinating Director for the Assembly, Madam Jemima Apedo Kallikrates, Municipal Agriculture Director, Mrs. Elizabeth Tapang-Tettey, Management and Staff of the Assembly and distinguished invited guests.
In her welcome address, the Municipal Agriculture Director, Mrs. Elizabeth Tapang-Tettey stressed that her outfit has made significant progress in building the capacity of farmers in the Municipality to increase appeal to consumers.
The Farmers’ Day address was delivered by the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Joshua Nii Bortey. He saluted all the farmers and fisher-folks for contributing their quota in developing the country. He added that this current government’s efforts to introduce its flagship programs such as Planting for Food and Jobs, Rearing for Food and Jobs, Planting for Export and Rural Development among others are to ensure the sector is vibrant and our farmers and fishers are able to produce enough food for people of the country and exports.
Hon. Joshua Nii Bortey ended his address by assuring the people of Nungua that the assembly would give in her best effort to put Krowor on the map in matters of Agriculture.
The Municipal Best Farmer in this year’s celebrations was Mr. Kwame Nketiah Mensah. He received a brand new tricycle motor, 1 box of Maize Master, 12 cutlasses, 1 Knapsack Sprayer, 1 pair of Willington Boot, 1 Sword, 1 Certificate and so on..
In all, 7 people were awarded for their various contributions towards the sustainability of agriculture and the local economy.
