Study on Coastal Accra Community Hypertensive Intervention (CACHI)


The Krowor Municipal Health Directorate equipped its staff with a samsung tablet, a BP apparatus and a Backpack. The evaluation centers were also given BP apparatus, weighing scales, Glucometre and test strips to improve the detection and management of Hypertension in the Coastal Communities in Accra, Ghana.
The study assessed the prevalence and management of hypertension among adult populations (18 years and older). Participants diagnosed with hypertensive (new and old) were linked to appropriate medical care who were monitored till the end of the study using various strategies including voice calls, text messages and home visits.
In all, a total of 12 teams, which was made up of 21 community health Nurses, 3 volunteers and a coordinator participated in the study.
