The 1st Ordinary General Assembly Meeting of the Krowor Municipal Assembly was convened at the GNAT Hall on Wednesday, 13th August 2025. The meeting brought together Honourable Assembly Members, Heads of Departments, invited dignitaries, and other stakeholders to deliberate on key developmental and administrative matters of the Municipality.
Proceedings commenced with the prescribed opening formalities, which set the tone for the day’s business. The Honourable Presiding Member officially welcomed all present and delivered the opening remarks. In his address, he underscored the importance of the General Assembly Meeting as a platform for policy formulation, review of developmental strategies, and open dialogue on matters of municipal governance. He urged members to approach deliberations with a spirit of cooperation, mutual respect, and dedication to the welfare of the citizenry.
Following the Presiding Member’s remarks, the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Ing. Paul Afotey Quaye, presented the sessional address. In his statement, he provided an overview of the state of the Municipality, highlighting progress made in infrastructure, sanitation, education, and social services since the previous Assembly meeting. He also outlined the challenges confronting the Assembly, including resource constraints and the need for improved community engagement, while calling for the collective effort of all stakeholders to address them.
The Honourable Member of Parliament for Krowor, Hon. Dr. Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, was then invited to speak. In her address, she commended the Assembly for its dedication to service delivery and assured members of her continued collaboration and advocacy in securing resources for the Municipality. She encouraged the Assembly to maintain a strong partnership with central government agencies to accelerate development initiatives.
Subsequently, the Assembly considered the reports of the Executive Committee and the Public Relations and Complaints Committee (PRCC). These reports, presented in detail, covered policy recommendations, citizen feedback, and updates on previous resolutions. Members engaged in constructive discussion, offering clarifications and input to ensure effective implementation of the recommendations contained in the reports.
Reports from the Sub-Structures, namely the North and South Zonal Councils, were also presented. These reports highlighted activities undertaken at the zonal level, key challenges faced, and proposals for enhancing local governance. Members noted the importance of strengthening the capacity of these sub-structures to effectively respond to the needs of their respective communities.
A significant agenda item for the day was the discussion and approval of the Enterprise Risk Management Policy. The policy, introduced by the relevant committee, was designed to establish a structured approach for identifying, assessing, and managing risks that may impede the Assembly’s objectives. After an in-depth discussion, during which members examined the policy’s provisions and implementation framework, the Assembly unanimously approved it for adoption and execution.
The meeting concluded with expressions of appreciation from the Presiding Member to all participants for their active contributions and commitment to the Municipality’s progress. The proceedings were formally adjourned, with members departing in anticipation of the continued implementation of resolutions reached.
