

A special meeting was held on Friday, 2nd May 2025, at the GNAT Hall in Addo Gonno- Nungua to confirm the President’s nominee for the position of Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for the Krowor Municipal Assembly. The meeting was presided over by the Presiding Member of the Assembly, Hon. Robert Okoe Odiko.
The session commenced at 8:00 am with an opening prayer led by an Assembly Member. This was followed by the formal opening of the meeting by the Municipal Coordinating Director, Madam Jemima Apedo Kallikrates, who acknowledged the presence of all dignitaries. In attendance were the Greater Accra Regional Minister, Hon. Linda Obenewaa Akweley Ocloo, the Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection and Member of Parliament for Krowor, Hon. Dr. Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, Director of the Regional Coordinating Council, representatives from the Nungua Traditional Council, representatives of the Electoral Commission, Mr. Benjamin Danso, the Constituency Chairman for Krowor, Assembly Members, the Nungua Chief Imam, Heads of Department and staff of Krowor Municipal Assembly, the government nominee Ing. Paul Afotey Quaye and Personnel from the Kpeshie Divisional Command of the Ghana Police Service who provided security for the event.
In her keynote address, Hon. Dr. Agnes Naa Momo Lartey expressed appreciation to all attendees for their presence and support. She called for a peaceful and orderly atmosphere to ensure a smooth electoral process. Hon. Linda Ocloo also extended her gratitude to all stakeholders, Assembly Members, Traditional Leaders and residents of the municipality for their cooperation, patience and dedication to the progress of Krowor. She emphasized that the nomination of a Municipal Chief Executive is not merely procedural step but a call to dedicated leadership and public service. She urged the nominee, if confirmed, to serve with integrity, experience, commitment and stressed the importance of unity, encouraging leaders to put aside personal and political differences for the collective development of Krowor and the nation as a whole.
A significant highlight of the meeting was the electoral confirmation of the government’s nominee. Madam Gladys Pinkrah, Regional Head of the Electoral Commission in Krowor, briefed the Assembly on the electoral process and referenced relevant provisions of the Local Government Act, 2016 (Act 936) to provide legal context for the proceedings. Ing Paul Afotey Quaye received unanimous approval, securing all 17 votes from Assembly Members, thereby meeting the required two-thirds majority. Following the vote, Hon. Linda Obenewaa Akweley Ocloo officially swore in Ing. Paul Afotey Quaye as the new Municipal Chief Executive of the Krowor Municipal Assembly.
In his acceptance speech, Hon. Ing Paul Afotey Quaye expressed gratitude to all stakeholders for the confidence placed in him. He described Krowor as a municipality of vibrant people, rich culture and great potential. He pledged to lead with integrity, transparency and accountability, and to build on the achievements of his predecessors. He outlined his vision of a clean, safe, inclusive and economically vibrant Krowor that is environmentally sustainable He also affirmed his commitment to participatory leadership where the voices and needs of the people guide policy, and where youth aspirations and traditional wisdom are integrated into governance.
The ceremony concluded with congratulatory remarks from fellow Assembly Members, followed by Hon. Bortey Jeremiah moving the motion for adjournment, after which the Nungua Chief Imam delivered the closing prayer, officially bringing the meeting to an end.
