

In line with President John Dramani Mahama’s reset agenda for the reintroduction of the National Sanitation Day, the Krowor Version was observed on Friday 28th February 2025 in the twelve electoral areas. This initiative forms part of the Regional Minister, Hon. Linda Akweley Ocloo’s effort to promote environmental cleanliness, improve public health and foster community participation in waste management.
The cleanup exercise was led by the Krowor Municipal Coordinating Director, Madam Jemima Apedo Kallikrates through the Head of the Municipal Environmental Health office, Mr. Abdul Wahab. He was supported by the staff of the municipal assembly, Assembly members, unit committee members, residents and shop owners.
This exercise was focused on desilting and removal of solid waste mostly single use plastics from the road drains. Bushy areas where also cleared to do away with the habitation of reptiles that could be a threat to human lives.
In a keynote address, the Municipal Environmental Health officer emphasized the need for community members to contribute to a healthier environment both individually and communally to help promote sanitation conditions especially during the surge of cholera cases in the country.
He further warned hawkers to desist from selling at the peripherals of the road, and advised the public who purchase from these traders to shun the act as it contributes to the pollution of drains.
