QUEEN MOTHER SHOT DURING ENSKINMENT CEREMONY

Tragedy struck the Ga Adange Muslim Union in the Nungua West enclave on Saturday, 22nd February 2025,  when their newly enskinned queen mother, Lawrencia Naa Borley Nelson, also known as Naa Gamu, was fatally shot during her enskinment ceremony.

The ceremony, which was meant to be a joyous occasion marking the ascension of Naa Gamu and her husband to their respective royal positions, turned tragic when a musket shot, a customary part of the ritual, struck her in the thigh. Despite efforts to save her, she succumbed to her injuries.

While the exact motive behind the shooting remains unclear, the bereaved family has raised concerns about the circumstances surrounding the incident, with some members suspecting foul play. Authorities have confirmed that a suspect has been arrested and that investigations are currently underway to determine the cause and intent behind the fatal shooting.

The shooting has left the Nungua community in mourning with many calling for stricter security measures at traditional ceremonies.
