COMMISSIONING OF KROMA 5 & 6 BASIC SCHOOL BY HON. JOSHUA NII BORTEY (MCE FOR KROWOR)

The Municipal Chief Executive for Krowor, Hon. Joshua Nii Bortey on Friday 21st August, 2023 commissioned and handed over the first phase of 18-unit 3-storey classroom block and its ancillary works at Nungua KroMA 5 and 6 Basic School to officials of the Municipal Education Directorate.

In attendance to grace the august ceremony were the President of Nungua Traditional Area and Vice President of the Greater Accra Regional House of Chiefs, Oboade Notse King Prof. Odaifio Welentsi III and the Shitse and Overlord of the Ga-Adangbe State, Wor-Konor Nuumo Borketey Larweh Tsuru XXXIII Gborbu Wulomo, Municipal Coordinating Director of KroMA, Mr. S.K. Addo, Heads of Departments and Hon. Assembly Members in the Municipality and other dignitaries present. The Opening prayer was said by one of the teachers in the school.

The 18-unit 3-storey classroom building has a staff common room, a head teacher’s office, sick bay, library and kitchen for the teachers and students. The cost of the entire building is GH¢803,000. The construction of the other phases of the building will be completed in third quarter in 2024.

In his address, Hon Joshua Nii Bortey welcomed the gathering. He expressed his joy in commissioning of the 1st phase of the 18-unit 3-storey classroom block as that day happened to be his birthday. He revealed that the building was started and ended in Ex-President John Kufuor’s period of administration as president of Ghana. After being abandoned for many years, the classroom unit has seen a facelift through its rehabilitation of its first phase.

Hon. Joshua Nii Bortey highlighted some challenges faced by the Basic School. They include security, streetlights, chairs, tables, desks and etc. He stressed that the Central Government over the years, have tried to improve security and logistics for teachers to teach and students to learn in comfort.

The MCE for Krowor ended his speech by appreciating the works of the Nungua Traditional Authority; the King and Gborbu Wulomo for being highly supporting the Assembly as well as the teachers and staff of the Ghana Education Service, Nungua.
