FAMILIARISATION VISIT BY THE CHIEF DIRECTOR TO KROWOR MUNICIPAL ASSEMBLY, NUNGUA

The Chief Director of the Greater Accra Regional Coordinating Council, Mrs. Lilian Baeka visited the Krowor Municipal Assembly on Monday 28th August, 2023 to familiarise herself with the duties and functions of the Assembly. Mrs. Baeka was welcomed by the Municipal Chief Executive of Krowor, Hon. Joshua Nii Bortey and the Municipal Coordinating Director of Krowor Municipal, Madam Jemima Apedo.
In attendance to the special ceremony were the Public Relations Officer of the Greater Accra RCC, Madam Yaa Boahemaa, the Assistant Director Greater Accra RCC, Mr. Abeiku Dennis, Management and Staff of the Krowor Municipal Assembly.
The purpose of the gathering was said by Madam Jemima Apedo. She welcomed the gathering and stated that Mrs. Lilian Baeka was embarking on familiarization visits to all 29 Metropolitan, Municipal and Districts Assemblies within Greater Accra region which was Krowor’s turn to be visited. Madam Apedo introduced all Staff of the Assembly to the Chief Director. A roll-call was conducted afterwards of all Staff present.
A brief statement from the Municipal Chief Executive of Krowor, Hon. Joshua Nii Bortey was said after the purpose of gathering. Hon. Joshua Nii Bortey appreciated the effort made by the Chief Director to visit His assembly to know the problems of the assembly and help on how to resolve them. He commended the work the staff were doing for the people of Nungua and for the Assembly to place first out of all the 261 MMDAs in the country.
An address was made by the Chief Director, Mrs. Lilian Baeka. She expressed her delight to be visiting Krowor again. She added that her duty was to put Greater Accra first among all the regions in Ghana. Mrs. Baeka tackled some issues of which she addressed to the gathering.
The issue of attendance was mentioned by the Chief Director. She congratulated the Krowor Municipal Assembly for instituting the use of Clock-In System as the Assembly is the first Assembly to set up and utilise this system in Greater Accra. She added that lateness would not be tolerated henceforth. Officers would be queried if they do not adhere to rules relating to attendance to work.
Additionally, Mrs Baeka spoke about the submission of reports. She advised that the Departments such as Budget and Rating, Finance and Revenue, Development Planning Human Resource and etc. should make it a duty to submit reports on time. She advised staff and departmental heads should desist from “Cooking Reports”.
Lastly, in her address, the Chief Director admonished officers to stay away from politics. This was against codes and conducts of Local Government and Civil Service rules of engagement. Officers found culpable engaging in politics will be dismissed from the service. She announced that DPAT will be held in September, 2023.
